El genero Paragus se caracteriza por su tamaño pequeño,alas q extienden sobre el abdomen y la configuracion amarilla y negra sobre la cara.
El abdomen es totalmente negro o en gran parte rojo.
Paragus are small, thermophilus hoverflies. The are found in open areas where they dwell herbaceous vegetation with open parts and visit flowers like Scenecio. Most species prefer dry conditions, but P. finitimus is found in marshes and peats.
Their larvae live from root aphids and live in the ground.
