Eumenes sp

Delicate and artful the breeding balls of the pill wasps (Eumenes), manufactured from loam clumps, work. In their form they remind of a tiny jug, particularly since the thin-walled ball locks above with a collar. The pill wasps, which live always individually (solitär), are predatory. They capture butterfly crawler-type vehicles, larvae of sheet wasps and other insects, which are gelähmt by a pass. With the motionless victim fly it to their breeding ball, into which they put down before still another egg. If the booty - mostly there is several small Räupchen - is brought in, the wasp locks the entrance with a loam clump. The hatched wasp larva eats the gelähmten crawler-type vehicles up, and mostly the supply is enough, until the larva pupates itself. Similarly as the pill wasps, also the numerous kinds of the grave wasps (Spheädae) operate an intensive breeding welfare service. (German tras.)
